Spots
1. If the reservoir is thick enough, do you observe a flat spot?
2. Is the flat spot discordant with the stratigraphy, are terminations evident?
3. Flat spots associated with hydrocarbon contacts should always show an increase in acoustic impedance, does yours?
4. Is the down dip limit of the flat spot coincident with brightening, dimming or a phase reversal?
5. Flat spots are not necessarily flat in time, this can be due to the effects of tuning, gas, or in deepwater plays, a strongly dipping seabed.
6. Have you considered possible failure case explanations for you flat spot, i.e. diagenetic boundaries, multiples, low saturation gas accumulations, paleo contacts and channel bases?
7. Have you tried to enhance your flat spot by spatial or optical stacking?
Other Attributes
1. Do you observe a time sag beneath the bright, phase change or flat spot?
2. Is there an apparent lowering of frequency beneath the bright/dim spot?
