Dim Spots
1. Does the top and base reservoir dim?
2. Do you observe constructive interference (super bright) on the base reservoir event due to the side lobe of the flat spot impinging on the base reservoir trough?
3. Do you observe destructive interference (super dim) on the top reservoir event due to the side lobe of the flat spot event impinging on the top top reservoir peak?
4. Does the flat spot dim towards the top reservoir?
5. Do you observe subtle kinking of the top and base reservoirs at the contact with the flat spot?
6. Does the flat spot dip down towards top reservoir?
7. Is the flat spot the same polarity as top reservoir?
8. Are your observations consistent with the assumed polarity and phase?
9. Have you considered non hydrocarbon explanations for the bright spot, i.e. changes in the encasing shale or facies changes within the reservoir?
10. Do you observe an AVO anomaly and does it match your modelled response?
11. Have you checked partial stacks, these may improve resolution of your dimmed events?
12. Do you observe an AVO anomaly and does it match your modelled response?
13. Is the dimming consistent with structure in depth?
Note: if the hydrocarbon column is less than the thickness of the reservoir, you will not observe the base reservoir effects.
